Why church-run schools are the fastest-growing school choice in Miami-Dade

Low overhead, existing campuses and a state scholarship that covers most of tuition. The math works — and our partner is funding the gap.

A congregation with classrooms, a kitchen and a playground already owns most of what a small school needs. With the Florida Private School Scholarship paying $8,745 per K-3 student, a 60-student church school can operate on scholarship revenue alone.

Florida does not license or accredit private K-12 schools; it requires annual registration, attendance records, health and safety compliance and background screening. Preschools are licensed separately through DCF.

The Edu Fund partner scholarship is designed for exactly this model: closing the remaining gap for families at church-run and community schools. Congregations considering a school can start with our Florida start-up guide.
