Can a Miami-Dade family pay for this with scholarship funds?
Curriculum and curriculum materials are an authorized category.
The core PEP category. Self-paced, pre-recorded online courses are allowed; live online instruction must come from an approved online provider; full-time online instruction is not allowed under PEP.
Leftover funds may buy supplemental curriculum.
Rules that apply
- Curriculum that is not publicly available requires pre-authorization.
- Multi-user or family subscriptions are prorated to the student's share.
- Books have no annual cap and no frequency limit; two copies are permitted.
What is not allowed
- Full-time online school enrollment through PEP (use the Private School Scholarship or FES-UA with an approved online provider instead)
In Miami-Dade
Miami-Dade had 2,996 funded PEP students in 2025-26 — the eighth-largest county total in Florida — and curriculum is the first thing most of them buy.
How to buy it
Check MyScholarShop first (anything listed is pre-approved), then Find Providers in EMA for direct pay to tutors, therapists and instructors. Otherwise pay with a card, keep the itemized receipt and submit for reimbursement. Anything not listed as eligible needs a pre-authorization request before you buy; 2026-27 requests close May 28, 2027.
