Free pre-K and child care funding in Miami-Dade

Florida pays for every 4-year-old's pre-K year and subsidizes child care for working families. Hundreds of Miami-Dade church and private preschools participate.

VPK

540 free instructional hours during the school year (or 300 in summer) for any child who turns 4 by September 1. Register with the Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe, then choose a provider.

School Readiness

Income-based child care assistance for working or in-school parents, paid to participating centers and schools.

From VPK to kindergarten on scholarship

A child who starts in a private school's VPK class can continue into kindergarten with the $8,745 state scholarship — no change of school needed.
